What to expect

Visiting the May Arboretum is an incredible experience for any student. On each trip, classes will rotate through multiple stations at 30-50min increments determined by the Education Coordinator. Each student will experience all of the stations before the trip concludes. Educators can expect to experience a tour of the gardens, a lesson on a seasonally relevant topic with hands on application, and other science activities or crafts depending on group size. Students will be led by the Education Coordinator, Staff Horticulturalist, and a dedicated team of volunteers!

Topics for field trips are fine tuned for each group. Often, in the spring, our trips focus on pollination and flowers. In the fall, our trips usually focus on leafs and seasons changing. Educators will be contacted to confirm that trip content specifically addresses Nevada's state academic science standards and are grade appropriate.

Students visiting from WCSD schools will also be gifted a nature exploration back pack to continue to learn about the world around them after the trip ends!
